Michigan fires Kirk Campbell: 5 offensive coordinator candidates

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (BVM) – Michigan has fired Kirk Campbell following one season as the program’s offensive coordinator. Campbell has been an offensive assistant with the Wolverines since 2022 and was the team’s quarterbacks coach during Michigan’s national championship season in 2023.

However, with the departures of stars like J.J. McCarthy, Blake Corum and Roman Wilson, the Wolverines’ offense struggled mightily in 2024 as Campbell took over coordinator duties, ranking just 128th out of 133 FBS teams overall and only 112th in scoring.

Tight ends coach Steve Casula has been named interim offensive coordinator for the remainder of the 2024 season. The 7-5 Wolverines will play a bowl game in the coming weeks and have some momentum after closing the regular season with a 50-point effort against Northwestern and an upset win over No. 2 Ohio State. Still, the Wolverines will begin a search for a new offensive coordinator who can take their offense to the next level in the Big Ten.

Here are five offensive coordinator candidates for Michigan following Campbell’s firing.
