Zack Baun’s free agency: 5 landing spots for All-Pro LB
PHILADELPHIA (BVM) — At this time last year, Zack Baun was an unheralded linebacker coming off four ordinary seasons with the New Orleans Saints. He signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal with Philadelphia and that all changed.
Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio made Baun an inside linebacker rather than an edge rusher. He started 16 regular-season games and had 151 combined tackles this go-round, the sixth-most in the NFL. As Philly won Super Bowl LIX, he paced the team with seven tackles and added an interception of Patrick Mahomes.
“I was a role player here in New Orleans,” Baun said at Super Bowl Opening Night on Feb. 4, “but the thing is I just kept working and working and working and knew that it’s about the circumstances sometimes.”
Whether he sticks with the same circumstances that helped him to be one of five finalists for NFL Defensive Player of the Year remains to be seen. Pro Football Focus believes Baun is worth a three-year, $39 deal. Here are the suitors that could dish that out.
