WASHINGTON (BVM) – The Washington Commanders informed defensive tackle Jonathan Allen of his release after eight seasons with the franchise. Although he was permitted to seek a trade, he will now enter free agency after failing to find a suitable deal.

Despite his inability to secure a trade partner, many teams are expected to show interest in the 30-year-old defender. Allen has recorded 10 or more tackles for loss in a season four times and 5.5 sacks or more five times. A left pectoral injury limited him to eight games last season, yet he produced seven quarterback hits and three sacks.
