Tumultuous inning proves costly for Murphy against Terriers

MURPHYSBORO — A game-changing sixth inning took Carbondale from a 5-2 deficit to a 9-5 lead, and that turned out to be the final score in nonconference baseball action Wednesday. The first five hitters for Carbondale reached base safely to start the inning. Tyler Karayiannis, Reese Hand, and Ethan Kessler all singled. Karayiannis scored on Kessler’s single to make it a 5-3 deficit.
