Shaffer Homers in NCAA Opener Versus Tufts

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) softball team opened play at the NCAA Division III Softball Championship with an 8-1 defeat against Tufts University this afternoon at regional host Rowan University.Addison Shaffer hit a solo home run in the top of the second inning to provide RPI’s lone run. Schaffer’s blast tied the score at 1-1, however Tufts scored the final seven runs to claim the victory.
