Sarah Spain has become one of the newest owners of the Chicago Red Stars, adding to her impressive career in the sports industry.
The Kentucky 2A Championships, an organization that hosts a number of athletic championships for small Kentucky high schools, announced it will postpone the start of its volleyball and soccer tournaments to next fall. The inaugural tournaments will now happen next fall following the organization’s first softball and baseball tournaments in the spring.
As one of Tennessee’s top teams for the 2019-20 season, Sullivan South was supposed to play in the state tournament for the first time in school history. With the most wins ever for the program, the Sullivan South team was on the verge of a memorable season during the school’s final year of operation, before health restrictions due to COVID-19 forced the team’s final season to abruptly end.
Ashland boys basketball is Kentucky’s first and only program in the state to reach 2,000 wins and this season were the only undefeated team left going into the state tournament with a 33-0 record. As the Tomcats were preparing to achieve their first state title since 1961 and become the state’s first undefeated champion since 1948, regulations due to the COVID-19 ended their chance at history.
The Resurrection Christian boys basketball team appeared to be on its way to an undefeated season and the first state title in program history before the COVID-19 outbreak prevented the Cougars from becoming champions.
