Arkansas commit Jersey Wolfenbarger set for senior season
FORT SMITH, Ark. (BVM) — Following a successful junior season at Northside High School, Jersey Wolfenbarger was named the 2019-2020 Gatorade Arkansas Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Now Wolfenbarger is set to complete her senior year for the Grizzlies.
“Jersey Wolfenbarger is a special player. She has all the skills of a guard, with the height of a dominating post player,” Bryant High School head girls basketball coach Brad Matthews said in a Gatorade press release. “She can score on you at all three levels, and she’s an impossible matchup for almost any high school team.”
Standing at 6-foot-4, Wolfenbarger led the Northside to a 25-3 record in the regular season last year. She averaged 18.7 points, six rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals in those games and led the Grizzlies to the semifinals of the Arkansas Class 6A girls state tournament. Looking for back-to-back state titles, Wolfenbarger and the Grizzlies would, unfortunately, fall short to Fayetteville High School, 55-53 in the semifinals.
Wolfenbarger has earned some of the top awards a high school basketball player can achieve in Arkansas. She has a state title, was named Class 6A state tournament MVP as a sophomore, and was also named Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Player of the Year.
This girl right here has continued to work hard with laser-like focus these last few years and her efforts are paying off. The best is yet to come! Just wait… #bansheefam @JerseyWolf4

As Wolfenbarger continues to play an essential role on the court, she has also played an important role off the court. She volunteers at a homeless shelter and on behalf of the Salvation Army and works with kids at youth basketball camps.
Along with her volunteer work, Wolfenbarager also puts in work in the classroom. Through her junior year, she has continued to hold an impressive 4.08 GPA.
With her final season at Northside quickly approaching, Wolfenbarger has made a verbal commitment to the University of Arkansas to further her basketball career. As one of the most sought-after recruits for the Class of 2021, Wolfenbarger knew Arkansas was where she belonged due in part to her trust in head coach Mike Neighbors.
“I strongly believe the biggest thing that drove me to coach Neighbors program was his ability to make players great, and he does it with those that have been doubted or questioned,” Wolfenbarger said in a tweet. “But not only that, I trust that he will provide me with every opportunity to develop my game and get me ready to be great at the collegiate level and the WNBA. Most importantly, though, he believed in me when I was nobody.
“He believed in me first. It’s easy to offer me when I’m 6-foot-5, he did when I was 5-foot-6. Hopefully, I can inspire the younger generation of players to work every single day for their dreams. Mine came true; yours can too.”
Wolfenbarger is one of Arkansas’ most talented basketball players. She continues to grind and puts in the work that is necessary to be successful. When she joins the Razorback women’s basketball team next year, look for Wolfenbarger to make an impact on the hardwood right away.
