Trinity Presbyterian football seniors, coaches and alumni volunteer at Little Mountain Nursery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — When you hear someone talking about Trinity Presbyterian School, you might hear them talk about “the Trinity family.” So when the husband of a beloved faculty member died suddenly, the family stepped in.

You will find Kathryn Stabler on the sideline at every football game. She has her camera in her hands, and in between taking pictures, she is cheering for the team as if everyone of the players were her son. Mrs. Stabler’s love for Trinity has shined through her decades of dedication to it. All three of her children are Trinity alums, and return to campus often for special events.

A few years ago, the Stablers bought Little Mountain Nursery on McGehee Road in Montgomery. For years, they have proudly served the community in every season. When her husband Jeff suddenly passed away in November, Mrs. Stabler was left to prepare for the busy Christmas tree season at their families nursery alone, until the seniors, coaches, and alumni of the Trinity football team showed up to help unload the tree delivery.

“In every school, there are certain people that are the backbone and the heartbeat of its community. Mrs. Stabler is exactly that for Trinity. She’s the very essence of a servant. She has selflessly given of herself to the Trinity community so we didn’t hesitate to step in and be there when she needed us. Christ calls us to love, in happiness and sorrow, we are called to love people. Kathryn is living out Christ’s calling. She loves people and they love her,” said Jessica Lassiter, TPS Athletic Director. Trinity Football Coach Granger Shook added, “We were happy to help Mrs. Stabler. So many of our boys have worked at their nursery over the years. The Stabler family has made such a positive impact on our students since before I can remember. We had current and former players show up to help one of our own. Trinity loves the Stabler family.”

And the Stabler family loves Trinity, “When our family heard of the coaches, teachers, staff, and students coming together to volunteer at Little Mountain on one of our busiest days of the year, we were overwhelmed. In good times and sad, Trinity rallies around its own in a way that is like no other. We remain humbled by the generosity we have been shown with people giving up their early mornings to labor for us — the volunteers were truly the hands and feet of Jesus, and we are eternally grateful for them all,” said Kathryn Stabler. Through it all, the Trinity family supports each other and in their actions prove that they are a family.
