Brady White leaves everlasting legacy behind as he prepares for the NFL Draft

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (BVM) – In the immortal words of the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant, “Winning takes precedence over all. There’s no gray area. No almosts.”

In the history of Memphis football, there has not been a player who has furthered the program’s winning culture more than quarterback, Brady White.

In his three years as the Tigers’ starting quarterback, White had unprecedented success and has a resume that would rival careers of 2021 NFL Draft eligible quarterbacks like BYU’s Zach Wilson, Georgia’s Jamie Newman and even Florida’s Kyle Trask.

What has kept him from getting as much recognition as other quarterbacks is that while Memphis has started to get more media attention, they play in the American Athletic Conference, one that has not been recognized as a “Power 5” Conference.

It is a shame though because it has led to the star to fall under the radar for the last three years.

White’s career had not started off that way though.

In 2014, White had been deemed a consensus four-star recruit by all major outlets out of Santa Clarita, California and was initially committed to Arizona State University.

Unfortunately, White only played two games as a Sun Devil due to injuries keeping him out of action for much of his time there. That is why when he graduated in December of 2017, he put his name in the transfer portal.

The following month, White announced his commitment to the University of Memphis and after defeating incumbent David Moore for the starting job, it had been his team ever since.

What had he done during his time? Only reshape Memphis’ record books.

By the end of his career, White had become the Tigers’ leader in career passing yards (10,690), career passing touchdowns (90) and career total yards (10,664).

He also helped lead the Tigers’ to their first bowl win since 2014, after the Tigers defeated the Florida Atlantic Owls, 25-10.

However, the record that means the most to White is where he became Memphis’ winningest quarterback, after totaling 28 career victories.

“My actions have spoke for themselves. There’s numbers and statistics that you can’t argue against,” White said in a press conference following the team’s victory over Houston in the season finale. “I won a lot of games while I was here and that’s what matters to me.”

With so much accomplished by White, he announced on Dec. 31 that he was ready to take the next step and move on to the NFL Draft.

No matter what fate has for White and his potential NFL future, he will always be known as one of the greatest Tigers to play and a legend within the program.
