Sending off the Satellite Scorpions girls soccer seniors

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. — We’d like to recognize three Satellite High School Varsity Women’s Soccer team members who are Seniors this year, Caitlyn Ladd, Emma Pruett and Kyla Williams. They have given their all for the team and the sport and will be advancing to the college level this fall.

Caitlyn Ladd has been playing soccer since she was 7 years old. During club season Caitlyn is a defender. During the high school season she plays Outside Midfield. She has played on competitive teams for Satellite Beach, Indialantic, and Beachside Impact in Florida. She has also played for Pilchuk Soccer Alliance in Washington where she had opportunities for out of state tournaments and real winter soccer!

Caitlyn received Outstanding Scholar Awards in Washington State for both Varsity Golf and Varsity Soccer. Her High School soccer team in Washington was also the first sport/team in her school to be District Champions. She has a Varsity letter for both Soccer and Golf in Washington and will earn her Varsity letter in Soccer at Satellite High School as well. Caitlyn plans to attend EFSC in the fall, and transfer to UCF once she earns her Associates Degree. Her future goals include earning a Business Degree and opening her own boutique of redesigned clothing.

Emma Pruett has been playing soccer since she was 4 years old. Her main position is goalkeeper but she also plays forward for high school. She plays for Space Coast United Soccer Club and has gone to nationals twice. They also won Florida Cup 2 years ago. She was voted for the Cape Coast Conference team her junior year and was an offensive player her junior year.

Emma is an officer for Spanish National Honor Society and has committed to play soccer at Valdosta State University and she plans to major in broadcast communications.

Kyla Williams has been playing soccer since she was 5 years old. She plays center back for the high school team and also plays both center back and outside back. Besides playing on the SHS Women’s Soccer team, she plays for Space Coast United’s 18/19U 02/03 Girls Red team under Calvin Dixon.

Kyla is a member of National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. She received the 2017 Coaches Award, 2017 MVP, 2020 Rookie of the Year, and 2021 Scholastic Writing Silver Key Award. Kyla committed to South Georgia State College majoring in Athletic Training.

The 20-21 SHS Varsity Women’s Soccer team record is 14-1-4 and they recently won the District Championship. “With the 1-0 win over Merritt Island on February 8th, the team is Back to Back District Champions! I’m so proud of the entire team!”, commented Coach Weldon. Scoring leaders are Morgan Gamin with 13 goals and Emma Pruett with 12 goals. Bria Weldon leads Brevard County for the second year in a row with 25 assists. Lindsay Gill and Kyla Williams on defense have only given up 7 goals in 17 matches.

Caitlyn, Emma and Kyla will be missed by their fellow team members and Coach Weldon. We wish them well in their future endeavors.
