Reynolds primed to help Wichita Falls reach playoffs again

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (BVM) — Former Natalia High School football offensive coordinator Jason Reynolds will be the new offensive coordinator for the Wichita Falls Coyotes. Following a 3-4 overall season, the Reynolds will aim to revamp the Coyotes offense ahead of the 2021-22 season.

Reynolds helped the Natalia Mustangs make it to the second round of the high school football playoffs in Texas last year. During their playoff run, Reynolds’ final season at Natalia, the Mustangs averaged 34.5 points.

“It has been my distinct honor and blessing to have been part of the Natalia Mustang family,” Reynolds said in a tweet. “I have had some of the most memorable moments of my career over the last three years.”

Now Reynolds will be joining a Coyotes team led by head coach Grant Freeman. Freeman is a former San Angelo Lake View athlete and an assistant coach. Reynolds was the offensive coordinator there before taking the job at Natalia. The Coyotes averaged 25.7 points last season. Adding Reynolds, who had a successful final season at Natalia, will undoubtedly improve the Coyotes office output.

The Coyotes and Freeman were Class 5A Division II regional semifinalists back in 2019. The Coyotes run a similar type of offense as Natalia did. With Reynolds joining the program, the Coyotes will be aiming to get back to the playoffs this season.

“My decision to pursue this next season of my coaching career was one of the toughest I have had to make,” Reynolds stated. “I will truly miss everyone that I have come to know here, and I hope that I have taught you half as much as you all have taught me! … With that being said, I’m extremely honored and blessed to have been selected as the next Offensive Coordinator for the Wichita Falls High Coyotes. … I am ready to bring the All Gas No Brakes mentality to Old High.”
