BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Central Illinois Precision Shooting (CIPS) has been serving our local athletes since 2014 which is when they moved into their current range. They immediately began hosting Olympic style junior matches in September 2014. The organization focuses on International Air Rifle and Air Pistol and 3 Position Small Bore International Rifle. Individuals and teams from the CIPS club compete with Midwest Junior and Open matches. They also participate in National selection matches with USAShooting (USA’s Olympic team), the Civilian Marksmanship Program for National Air Rifle Championships and The US Army National Junior Championships.

Several CIPS members have competed at Sectional and National matches and over the years they have secured 8 team National Championships. Presently two club members are competing at the Collegiate level: Jaden Thompson at University of Kentucky and Martina Gratz at University of Mississippi.

CIPS usually starts working with shooters at no younger than 10 and they train through high school graduation. However, new shooters are welcome at any age including adults. The typical season begins in August and goes through April, with the small bore rifle training being continuous all year long. Registration begins in August, but new shooters are welcome at any time.
