Alstott-VanDeVanter will soon have chance to shine at Purdue

MOORESVILLE, Ind. (BVM) — Jaelin Alstott-VanDeVanter is a 6-foot-7, 280-pound offensive lineman coming off a terrific high school football career at Mooresville.

Playing for the Pioneers, the senior has developed into a top-100 lineman in the country in his 2021 class, as well as top-20 in Indiana. In addition, Alstott-VanDeVanter is an all-state player and Sports Illustrated All-American candidate.

Alstott-VanDeVanter has been part of the emergence of the Pioneers’ football program, which has gone a combined 22-5 over the past two seasons. In his senior season this fall, Mooresville made it all the way to semi state.

A big part of that was due to the offensive line, as the Pioneers averaged over 200 yards per game on the ground.

Now, Alstott-VanDeVanter will have his chance to continue his emergence at Purdue. He will join fellow Mooresville teammate Zach Richards, who has helped mentor the lineman over the years.

But perhaps Alstott-VanDeVanter’s greatest ties to Purdue come within his family. The lineman is related to Purdue Hall of Famer and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers fullback, Mike Alstott. He is also related to former All-American and pro bowler Anthony Spencer.

Alstott-VanDeVanter didn’t start playing competitive football until his freshman year of high school. Now, it’s his time to shine at Purdue, and perhaps follow in the footsteps of his family members with an NFL career someday.
