Jankiewicz earns MVC Setter of the Year honors once again

NORMAL, Ill. (BVM) — Illinois State volleyball standout Stef Jankiewicz has earned the Missouri Valley Conference’s Setter of the Year award. The senior also was awarded the honor in 2018, becoming the first player ever to win the award twice in the conference.

Jankiewicz — who was also named first-team all-conference — has begun putting a bow on a truly impressive career for the Redbirds. She currently is ranked 26th all-time among NCAA Division I players with 10.73 assists per set.

The volleyball standout also ranks third all-time in Illinois State program history with an eye-popping 4,680 assists. Jankiewicz has been an all-conference player in each of her four years with the Redbirds, as well as a Missouri Valley Conference scholar athlete.

The success has carried right over from high school for the Farmington Hills, Mich. native. While playing at Harrison High School, Jankiewicz was a team co-captain, all-state player and was even nominated for the Michigan Miss Volleyball award.

It’s been a truly impressive career in the sport for Jankiewicz, and it’s not over yet. Illinois State will now take part in the Missouri Valley Conference volleyball championship, where they will enter the tournament at the No. 1 seed.
