Loudon Love caps impressive career at Wright State with another award

DAYTON, Ohio (BVM) — Loudon Love has had a phenomenal basketball career for the Wright State Raiders, and continues to earn the recognition he deserves. Recently, Love was named to the Lou Henson All-American team, which honors the nation’s best Division I mid-major college basketball players.

Love has now been honored as an All-American three consecutive years, and was nominated for the Lou Henson award.

The senior averaged 16.6 points and 10 rebounds per game this season for the Raiders, and impressively recorded 12 double-doubles. His standout play also earned him Horizon League Conference Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season, becoming just the sixth player to win the award twice. He was also just the second player in program history to earn the conference’s top honor.

Although Love and his Wright State squad fell short of making it to the big dance this year, he still leaves with one NCAA Tournament appearance under his belt in 2018, and many impressive program marks on his resume.

Love played in an impressive 120 career games for the Raiders, and is No. 3 all-time on the team’s scoring list with 1,792 points. The 6-foot-8 big man’s most impressive numbers came on the glass, however, as he is the Wright State program leader in rebounds with 1,123, which is also good for 79th all-time in NCAA history.

It is clear Love has the talent to continue his playing career elsewhere. It will be interesting to see where his career takes him, but he won’t be forgotten at Wright State any time soon.
