Southern Miss WR Tim Jones hopeful to be drafted
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (BVM) — Back in January, Southern Mississippi Golden Eagle star wide receiver Tim Jones decided that he would forgo his senior season and declare for the NFL Draft.
The Biloxi receiver is one of the best receivers ever to suit up in the black and gold, even with an injury-riddled senior season. Jones finished his career with 150 career catches for 2,011 yards and nine touchdowns.
The 6-foot-1, 202-pound standout injured his hamstring early in the 2020 season. Jones was able to finish his season with 30 catches for 480 yards and four touchdowns.
“After thoughtful consideration and prayer, I have decided to enter the 2021 NFL Draft,” Jones said in a Twitter post. “I consider myself extremely blessed for my time in Hattiesburg, a place I will always cherish and hold close to my heart. I would like to thank my teammates, all coaches, Brother Mitch [Robinson], and many more as the list could go on endlessly. I would also like to wish Coach Gall all the luck in the world.”
Before his injury, Jones had 15 catches for 229 yards and two touchdowns. There was little to no doubt that Jones was the best player on the USM offense.
Jones made the Golden Eagles better. Whatever team takes in the NFL Draft, Jones will be ready to put in the work.
