Pat Rice reaches 300 career wins
WANAUKEE, Wis. (BVM) — Last Thursday night, Waunakee, in dominant fashion, shutout Fort Atkinson 57-0 at home.
It was another solid win for the WIAA Division II state runner-up who have opened this spring season 2-0, but the win against Fort Atkinson was big for other reasons. The win marked head coach Mark Rice’s 300th in his career.
Rice has been at the helm of the Waunakee program since 1992 and in that time the Warriors have become a powerhouse not just in the Badger Conference, but Wisconsin high school football.
The Warriors have won six state championships, one DIII and five DII championships, including three straight from 2009 to 20011. They have also won 18 Badger Conference titles during that time.
Rice now moves to No. 9 all–time in the state for career victories, however, his unbelievably high winning percentage of .876 with an overall record of 300-42 is the best among his counterparts in the top-10.
Rice and the Warriors will now face Janesville Craig at home on Friday night.
