Lawton hosts Xtreme Bulls event

LAWTON, Okla. (BVM) — This past weekend, the LO Ranch Arena held a Liberty National Bank Xtreme Bulls event. Riders like Athens, Texas native Jeff Askey were there to compete for the top spot.

Askey drew the bull “Farmer Paw.” That bull was part of the “Mo” Betta Rodeo Company. Askey finished with a score of 86.5. That bumped him into the top three, and he also earned some quality cash.

Along with Askey, who is looking to make his fifth National Finals Rodeo event, there was another all-time great competitor. Six-time world champion Sage Kimzey was there to compete as well.

But the spotlight never left Roscoe Jarbo, who held the top spot with a score of 88.5. He barely beat J.W. Harris, who finished with a score of 87.5. Harris is a four-time world champion and his runner-up finish goes to prove he’s one of the best.

The following day, Saturday, there were only five qualified rides. Askey was one of those riders.

Jeff Askey is now 33, and he is still going out there to prove he can compete with the younger generation of bull riders.
