Big plays by the Martinsville Middle School softball team

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. — Game recaps for the Martinsville Middle School softball players who are currently in their Spring 2021 season.

3-30-21

8th grade 3-0, Addison Massey-Deckard pitched a shut out AND hit her first dinger!!! Addison pitched to 18 batters, 64 pitches, only 2 hits, 5 strikeouts, 0 walks. Struck out lead off batter all 5 innings. Way to go!!! Great catching from Nevada Plummer!! Emily Martin, Emma Breen, Aubrie Shepherd, Tiffany Wylie and Emerson Pemberton rocked it at the plate as well. So many good plays-great job ladies!!

7th battled the rain to win 5-3!! Great pitching from Grace Cook and Nevaeh Dillon, great catching from Mackenzie Williams. Huge hits from Ahvay Scholl, Evea Ennis, Gracie Buckley and Nevaeh Dillon. Defense with a double play!! Looked good ladies!!

7th grade, lost 8-7 in 5 innings – Big hits from Emma Davis, Adison Ford, Kynlee Cardwell, Gracie Buckley, Adison Martin, Brookelyn Schweitzer, Holly French and Macie O’Neal (2). RBIs from Nevaeh Dillon, Gracie (2), Adison M, Brookelyn and Holly. Macie and Holly each had doubles. Runs scored from Emma (2), Adison Ford, Gracie, Adison M and Macie (2). Grace Cook pitched well with 3 strikeouts and allowing only 1 earned run. Nevaeh pitched for 2 innings, allowing one hit, no runs, no walks and one strikeout. Defense backed them up with a double play and lowering our errors from last game to 5. Gracie and Adison M each put 2 innings behind the plate allowing only one stolen base. Gracie picked off one runner.

8th grade lost 7-6 in 5 innings – Maci-Glee Schoolcraft started on the rubber and allowed no walks and was part of a 3up, 3down inning. Addison Massey-Deckard pitched the other 3 innings with 2 strikeouts. Offense stepped up with only 4 strikeouts in the team’s 24 plate appearances. Huge hits from Emily Martin (2), Aubrie Shepherd (2), Addison Massey-Deckard (2), Emerson Pemberton and Maci-Glee. RBIs came from Emily, Aubrie, Addison (2) and Maci-Glee. Doubles – Emily, Addison (2) and Aubrie. Defense was on fire with only 1 error. Emerson had a lay-out diving catch in left field that should be submitted to ESPN! Emily also had a diving catch at shortstop. Ahvay Scholl caught a deep foul ball and threw to Aubrie at second base for a double play. Destiny Forler was a wall at first base. Nevada Plummer was solid behind the plate the whole game allowing just 2 stolen bases and picking off one runner at home on a passed ball.
