Malone’s Quentin earns G-MAC Co-Women’s Swimmer of the Year honors
CANTON, Ohio (BVM) — Like many, the Malone University Pioneers women’s swimming team had its season shortened. But that didn’t stop one swimmer from still having an impressive year.
Senior Denise Quentin was recently named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Co-Women’s Swimmer of the Year. She shares the honor with Leah Tunney from Hillsdale College.
The Schwerte, Germany native has had an impressive season, posting nine personal bests across the six meets the Pioneers have competed in. She is also one of 19 from Malone to earn all-conference honors at the G-MAC conference championships. Specifically, Quentin earned first-team honors in the 100m butterfly.
The success is nothing new for Quentin, however, as she was a second-team all-conference swimmer right away as a freshman. As a junior, she was also a first-team all-conference performer. During that 2019-20 season, the swimming standout set three school records in each the 200, 400 and 800 free relays.
Not only has Quentin been a star in the pool, but she has also excelled in the classroom, making the G-MAC all-academic team multiple times in her career.
Overall, Quentin helped the Pioneers to a fourth-place team finish at the conference championships. Taking home the conference player of the year honor may just be the cherry on top of what has been an impressive career for Quentin at Malone.
