NEW HAMPTON, N.H. (BVM) — Former New Hampton School and William & Mary star guard Eva Hodgson announced on Twitter that she is transferring to the University of North Carolina.

Hodgson, along with fellow teammate and Portsmouth High School alum Libby Underwood, opted out of the 2021 season and decided to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. Underwood is still currently in the transfer portal.

“We will miss both Eva and Libby as members of our program,” William & Mary head women’s basketball coach Ed Swanson said in a statement. “They each were able to make contributions on the court and most importantly, each will be leaving with their William & Mary degrees this May. We wish them both nothing but success as they move forward onto new challenges.”

Hodgson will join a Tar Heels team that went 13-11 in the 2020-21 season and was bounced in its opening NCAA Tournament matchup against Alabama.

The incoming guard averaged 20.7 points per game and 3.6 assists her sophomore season, ranking first in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and eighth in the NCAA in scoring. She was also the only player in the nation to shoot at least 50% from the field, 40% from 3-point range and 90% from the free throw line.

The Rindge, N.H., native graduated from William & Mary in her three years at the college and will be pursuing her MBA at North Carolina.
