Holton leading Benedictine baseball’s charge

SAVANNAH, Ga. (BVM) — The Benedictine Military School baseball team is rounding third and heading down the home stretch of the high school baseball season, and it is doing it in style. After losing a pair of games to schools based out of Florida, the Cadets have won back-to-back games in shut-out fashion, outscoring opponents 23-0 in those two games.

That success is due in large part to star pitcher Carter Holton. In their most recent game, a 10-0 win over visiting Morgan County, the Vanderbilt pitching commit tossed his second no-hitter of the season. He struck out 14 batters and allowed no walks, but hit two batters along the way.

That moved his ERA down to 0.467 on the season, and improved his record to 5-1. He’s struck out 75 batters this season in just 30 innings of work.

Holton is no pushover at the plate either, helping his own cause by giving the Cadets a scoring punch. The future Commodore was two of four from the plate against Morgan County, launching his sixth homerun of the season en route to pushing three runs across the plate.

The Cadets have just six games left on the regular season schedule before entering the playoffs.
