Boston College women’s lacrosse dominating ACC play
NEWTON, Mass. (BVM) — Boston College’s dominating play against the ACC continues as the Eagles sit at 10-1 on the season. The Eagles’ most recent victory came at the hands of No. 4 Notre Dame.
After taking care of business in recent matchups against No. 8 Duke and No. 16 Louisville, the Eagles would make sure to keep their momentum going, putting up 19 goals in the team’s 19-11 win over the Irish. Led by freshman Belle Smith, the Eagles’ young midfielder racked up 6 points on the day behind her 4 goals.
The play from Smith is no surprise, who came in as the No. 1-ranked midfielder in the country. She currently ranks third in goals and fourth in points for the Eagles.
“She is going to be an impact player at the college and USA level,” Smith’s high school coach Mary Bergmann said before the season. “I think she is going to be a game changer in so many ways. In addition to her lacrosse skills, she is one of the best coaches I have ever seen. I know she is going to find a way to accomplish all the goals she has.”
With a deep team led by senior Charlotte North, Boston College is looking to continue its success with three games remaining in the season. The Eagles will have another chance at Notre Dame with an upcoming rematch scheduled.
