LUBBOCK, Texas (BVM) — One of the most coveted non-Division I prospects in the NCAA transfer portal has decided where he’ll be playing basketball next year. Chandler Jacobs, who is a Division II All-American, has committed to Texas Tech.

Along with Texas Tech, Jacobs was drawing interest from programs such as Grand Canyon University, Vanderbilt, and Colorado State.
Jacobs is coming off an outstanding year at Dallas Baptist University (DBU) where he averaged 20.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. He also shot 45% from the 3-point range this past season. He was also named the Lone State Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Academic Player of the Year.
Jacobs has played for four years at DBU. There he became the school’s all-time leading scorer, and he will be graduating in the following month.
Texas Tech’s backcourt is pretty much vacant. Mac McClung, Kyler Edwards, Micah Peavy, and Terrene Shannon either entered the transfer portal or declared for the NBA Draft.
Now with Jacobs joining the Red Raiders, he’ll look to help the program and new head coach Mark Adams reach the NCAA Tournament again.
