Coppell Cowgirls defeat Plano East Panthers on Senior Night
CARROLLTON, Texas (BVM) — Back on April 13, the Coppell Cowgirls took on the Plano East Panthers on Senior Night. It turned out to be a special night for the seniors as they would walk away with a victory.
But it didn’t look like it would start out that way. Plano East would get the scoring started in the second inning after a passed ball got past Coppell’s catcher.
In the following inning, the Cowgirls would start to swing away. A single started things for Coppell and ElleBelle Zimmerman would bring that run in. That’s all that the Coppell squad could muster.
But the Cowgirls would bring in more runs in the following inning. Coppell scored two more runs to bring the Cowgirl lead to two. Then in the fourth inning, the Cowgirls blew the game wide open. Following an RBI double by Zimmermann, the Cowgirls lead expanded to 5-1. The Cowgirls would bring across four more runs for a 9-1 lead in the fourth inning.
Two more runs came across for Coppell. This would induce the giving run-rule, and the Cowgirls would walk away with the victory.
This brought their overall record to 15-7. The squad followed up the victory with a two-run loss to Flower Mound.
The Cowgirls ended their regular season with a 15-8 record. Now the team will look to start winning again as they face Grandview High School on April 21.
