Exeter senior Ben Cerrato throws no-hitter
EXETER, N.H. (BVM) — It didn’t take long for Exeter senior pitcher Ben Cerrato to make some history in his final season, tossing a no-hitter against Spaulding on Monday. The performance from the righty helped the Blue Hawks to their first win of the season.
Cerrato racked up nine strikeouts in his six innings of work, powering Exeter to an 11-0 victory over the Red Raiders. The effort from the senior worked well with the run production his teammates gave him, as Cerrato struck out five batters through the first three innings.
The Division I win for Exeter has the Blue Hawks standing at a 1-1 record, after losing to Bedford to open their season. With their spring season being cancelled last season, the Blue Hawks are hoping to get back to their 2018-19 roots which saw their squad go 14-4.
As the team faces cancellations early on, Exeter is looking to get back in the swing of things with a rematch against Spaulding awaiting them.
