Slamer-de St. Aubin reaches 100-win milestone at Albion

MARSHALL, Mich. (BVM) — Albion College swept Adrian College 3-0 in the first round of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament, giving Albion head coach Kristin Slamer-de St. Aubin her 100th win with the program.

Slamer-de St. Aubin is in her ninth season with the Britons, and has helped turn the program into a contender. Becoming the winningest coach in program history in 2017, she has led Albion to winning seasons in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019, and has taken the Britons to the semifinals of the MIAA Tournament in their last three seasons.

Graduating from Albion in 2007, Slamer-de St. Aubin became a high school head coach and regional club director for three years beginning in 2009. Prior to that, she was an assistant at Northern Michigan University.

Of course, the now coach also had some impressive playing days of her own. At Albion, she was a three-year starter and team captain. Slamer-de St. Aubin became an MIAA honorable mention performer in 2006, and also left the program with the career digs record.

Now, Slamer-de St. Aubin continues to pass down her knowledge of the game to her players, and the results keep paying off. Although it has come during a shortened season, the Britons have achieved an impressive 6-2 record.

Led by many throughout the season, junior middle Chloe Webber and freshman Kaylynne Nicholson were two of the headliners in the team’s opening MIAA Tournament game, as Webber finished with a team-high 14 kills while Nicholson contributed 13 digs.

With 100 wins now under her belt, Slamer-de St. Aubin will look to begin the quest for the next hundred. It will begin in the MIAA Tournament semifinals as the Britons travel to take on Hope College, a team that handed them one of their two losses on the season just a couple weeks back.
