Jed Castles joins Red Raiders
WICHITA FALLS, Texas (BVM) — So many college athletes faced uncertainties last year. But back in April 2020, Jed Castles announced he had committed to Texas Tech.
During his first two years of high school, Castles didn’t seem to be attracting many offers. After his junior year where he caught 45 passes for 556 yards and nine touchdowns, his recruitment picked up substantially.
He helped Rider High School reach the Class 5A state quarterfinals and he was also awarded District 3-5A Offensive Newcomer of the Year during that season.
Castles became one of the top tight end recruits, according to ESPN. Castles was mulling offers from Iowa State, Kansas State, Houston, SMU, and others. But he ultimately chose to commit to Texas Tech.
“Feels great to be officially a red raider!!!,” Castles said in a tweet.

Castles graduated early and enrolled at Texas Tech this past January. He’ll continue to battle for a spot on the roster.
