Madison West beats Madison Memorial in rivalry game

MADISON, Wis. (BVM) — In a battle between Madison schools, it was the Madison West Regents that came out on top over the Madison Memorial Spartans in the alternate fall season boys soccer game Tuesday.

The game was scoreless up until the 25th minute when West’s Tomas Garcia stepped up to take a free kick and was able to get the ball to Miguel Konde Gwo who did the rest, putting the Regents up 1-0. West wouldn’t let up for the rest of the game, winning 4-1 over the Spartans. 

The win gives the Regents their first win over Madison Memorial since 2017 and puts them at 3-1-1 against the Spartans in their last five matches. 

With the win over the Spartans, the Regents are now tied with Madison East at the top of the ranking at 2-0. Those two will face off against each other on Saturday in a battle of undefeateds while Memorial will look to get its first win of the season against Madison La Follette.
