Middleton High School girls tennis competes at state Saturday

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (BVM) — The WIAA alternate fall season for girls tennis will come to an end Saturday with the state tournament taking place in Eau Claire, Wis. 

Middleton High School enters as the No. 2 seed and will compete against Ashwaubenon in the semifinals for a chance to play the winner of the Verona vs. Neenah matchup in the state championship. 

On April 14, the Cardinals won their sectional in dominant fashion, beating second-place Madison West by 17 points. Freshman Netra Somasundaram took third place in No.1 singles, while sophomores Sophia Agapov and  Amy Li and junior Bella Conrad took first place in No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles respectively. 

Middleton also won No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 doubles with its No. 1 doubles team of seniors Karsen Dettman and Noor Rajpal taking third place in the doubles state tournament on April 23. 

Saturday will mark Middleton’s first trip to state since 2014 with play beginning at 11 a.m. CST and the championship starting at 1:30 p.m. CST.
