Avyonne Jones commits to Oklahoma State

SOUTHLAKE, Texas (BVM) — The NFL Draft can overshadow some of the country’s top high school football recruits making their college commitments. But some didn’t go unnoticed during draft week. Several recruits made their decision and Avyonne Jones was one of them.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback from Southlake Carroll High School was mulling offers from schools such as Arkansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Wisconsin, and SMU. He held 23 offers in total but he made his final decision on April 24.

Jones made the decision to commit to Oklahoma State. He is the 10th recruit to announce his commitment to the Cowboys. Some other recruits that highlight the Class of 2022 are Braylin Presley, Mason Gilkey, and Garret Rangel.

Jones made 46 total tackles (32 solo) as a junior, had one interception, and deflected 13 passes. Jones also helped the Dragons reach the Class 6A state championship game where they ultimately lost to Westlake High School.

As his senior year approaches, Jones will be aiming to improve upon an already impressive junior year. It’s sure to be an exciting time for him and his family.
