Madison Edgewood looks strong as it reaches the middle of the season
MADISON, Wis. (BVM) — In the most recent rankings put out by the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin, the Madison Edgewood High School Crusaders were given the No. 1 ranking among Division 2 teams.
The Crusaders started the season well, finishing 10th at the Sheboygan North Invitational and followed it up with a close second-place finish to Middleton, the No. 3-ranked team in Division 1 golf, at the Madison Edgewood Invitational.
Since then they have continued to play well in head-to-head matchups against Oregon and Fort Atkinson as well as the Morgan Stanley Invitational which took place Tuesday.
Madison Edgewood features two of the top golfers in the state from the Class of 2023, Alex Weiss and Alwang Deang. Last November, Weiss was ranked as the second-best golfer in the Class of 2023 and Deang was ranked fifth.
The Crusaders are the reigning three-time state champions after winning the Division 2 championship in 2017, 2018 and 2019. With postseason play slated to start in early June, Madison Edgewood will look to add another title to its streak.
