Brewer’s Jed Gilpatrick tosses no-hitter
BREWER, Maine (BVM) — Brewer sophomore Jed Gilpatrick had himself quite the day in the Witches’ matchup against Nokomis, pitching a no-hitter in the team’s recent action.
Gilpatrick pitched all seven innings for the Witches, racking up nine strikeouts in his 83- pitch, no-hit performance. The sophomore would also go on to tally two singles and an RBI, helping Brewer to a 7-0 win over the 4-4 Warriors.

Along with the great start from Gilpatrick, the Witches got production from up-and-down their lineup with top hitters Grady Vanidestine and Rowan Valley generating a combined five singles and three RBIs on the day.
With the win putting the Witches at a 2-6 record on the season, they are hoping the special performance from their sophomore pitcher can help build some momentum moving forward. With the COVID-19 pandemic canceling their season last year, the Witches are hoping to get back on track after going 12-5 in their most recent season.
Brewer will get its next opportunity in a matchup against Ellsworth on Friday as it looks for back-to-back wins.
