Danquez Dawsey commits to Central Oklahoma

LAWTON, Okla. (BVM) — One of Oklahoma’s best high school basketball prospects has signed his letter of intent. Danquez Dawsey is heading to the University of Central Oklahoma.

“First and foremost I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play the game I love, Dawsey wrote in a tweet. “I want to thank my parents for pushing me to be the very best I can be and staying on me and letting me give up…Thanks to my Coach G and Coach O. You guys helped me with my game and become a better athlete and I thank you for that. Thank you Coach Wheeler and Coach Bob Hoffman, for the amazing opportunity! With that being said I will be committing to the University of Central Oklahoma.”

Dawsey helped the Highlander boys basketball team reach the Class 5A state championship game in March. They would unfortunately fall to Carl Albert High School in the championship game. Also during the 2020 campaign, Dawsey became the Highlanders’ second all-time leading scorer during his final season.

The Bronchos finished with a 13-11 overall record. And with the addition of Dawsey, they‘ll look to improve their record in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. (MIAA).
