McFarland boys soccer ready for state tournament

MCFARLAND, Wis. (BVM) — The alternate fall boys soccer season state tournament begins Saturday with a chance at a rematch of the 2019 WIAA state championship game.

McFarland High School enters the tournament as the No. 1 after winning its sectional by beating Deforest 2-0 on May 8 making its third straight state tournament appearance in a row.

The last two trips have led to runner-up finishes, first against Pius XI Catholic in 2018 and then Shorewood in 2019. Now in 2021, the Spartans have another chance at a state final appearance and a rematch with Shorewood, which enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed.

The Spartans will have to first get past Fort Atkinson and Shorewood has to beat Notre Dame but the table is set for McFarland to get the state championship it been going after the last three years.
