Pensacola Lightning starts sixth season after COVID-19 shutdown

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Pensacola Lightning professional ABA basketball team announced to the American Basketball Association (ABA) league  office we will be returning for the 6th season after the COVID-19 shutdown. The Lightning will be coming back to a record setting list of over 200 expansion teams for the upcoming season that begins in early November.

The Pensacola Lightning like to welcome Chase Cole who has agreed to be the new  head coach for the Pensacola Lightning basketball team we look forward to his  fresh brand of leadership.

One of the most electrifying rising stars of coaching in south Alabama, Chase Cole makes his professional head coaching debut with the Pensacola Lighting.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama, 27-year-old Chase Cole was raised to love and respect  the game of basketball. This passion has led him to pursue coaching, leading players to  discover that same zeal for the game.

He led an extensive high school career as a player, advancing to county championships while attending Springville High School. Cole won the award for all county defense and led his team as caption and as a strong forward. After transferring to Coosa Christian in 2010, he started to gain the attention from multiple college programs. In 2012, Cole graduated from Coosa Christian. In that same year, he helped lead his team to an  appearance in the AHSAA 2A regional championships.

In 2014, Cole moved to south Alabama and his love for all things basketball came with him. The small town of Elberta, Alabama had retired their youth basketball program, but after 10 years, Cole revived it. While being the commissioner and a sitting board member, Cole coached and led his middle school team to two appearances in the Paradise Island championship game while earning an impressive 27-7 overall record in three seasons.

Although Cole loves teaching his passion for the game, he knows his talents are needed on a bigger stage and is excited for the upcoming season at the Pensacola Lightning.
