White Plains softball coach reaches 400th win
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (BVM) — Long-time White Plains softball coach Ted O’Donnell notched his 400th win as a head coach after the team’s 20-5 victory over New Rochelle. O’Donnell becomes just the fifth coach in Section 1 history to achieve the accomplishment.
The Tigers’ coach has headed the program for the past 25 years and reached the 300-win mark back in 2013. He will be looking to cap off another great season with his team off to a hot start offensively. Led by Alexa Galligani and Natasha Mendez, the two combined for three home runs and 10 RBIs in the Tigers’ 20-run performance over the Huguenots. In the White Plains’ eight games this season, the Tigers’ offense has scored double-digit runs in all but one.
With his team off to a 7-1 start in 2021, O’Donnell is hoping to replicate the success he had in the team’s last season, which saw the Tigers go 20-3 before coming up just short in the Section 1 Class AA state championship game against John Jay.
O’Donnell and the Tigers will get another crack at New Rochelle with a meeting between the two teams scheduled for this week.
