Michael Durr transfers to Indiana men’s basketball program

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (BVM) — The Indiana Hoosiers men’s basketball program changed hands this offseason when the team let go of Archie Miller and hired veteran coach, Mike Woodson. While many weren’t sure exactly what direction the program might go in, Woodson so far has put together a roster full of talent for the 2021-22 campaign.

Recently, the roster continued to grow as South Florida transfer Michael Durr announced he has committed to IU. Durr is a 7-foot center who played his first three seasons for the Bulls, and will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning this season.

Durr is a native of Atlanta who graduated from Victory Rock Prep School. He also played at Oldsmar Christian School where he averaged over 12 points and nearly 10 rebounds per game during his junior season. In addition, the big man also played AAU basketball with Atlanta Xpress.

During his time at South Florida, Durr started in 85 of the 87 games he played in. Throughout his freshman and sophomore seasons for the Bulls, Durr averaged around six points and six rebounds per game. His development continued last season as a junior, where he upped his averages to nearly nine points and eight rebounds per contest.

Last season, Durr achieved multiple double-doubles while finishing fourth in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) in rebounding and eighth in blocks. Durr also finished his season and South Florida career on a high note with 13 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks in a tight conference tournament loss to Wichita State.

Durr should add a nice presence to the Hoosiers alongside Trayce Jackson-Davis, and also has the skills and talent to compete at the Big Ten level. It is yet another exciting get for Mike Woodson’s Hoosiers, who will look to climb further up the Big Ten standings next season.
