Milwaukee Milkmen celebrate championship

FRANKLIN, Wis. (BVM) — The Milwaukee Milkmen are off to a great start in the 2021 season. The American Association team is currently 4-2 after two road series against the Sioux City Explorers and the Gary SouthShore RailCats.

Today, the Milkmen return home to Franklin, Wis., for their first home game of the season against the Winnipeg Goldeyes. During which they will celebrate their American Association of Professional Baseball championship from last year.

Back in September of 2020, Milwaukee won the championship with a gentleman’s sweep of the Sioux Falls Canaries, winning the best-of-seven series 4-1. The championship came in the Milkman’s second year of existence. The team went 34-26, winning the regular season title setting up the championship series with second place Sioux Falls. The championship followed an inaugural season in which the Milkmen took last place with a 38-62 record.

The impressive turnaround was only bolstered by the fact that it was Milwaukee’s first professional baseball championship in over 60 years.

The return to Franklin Field will include a ring ceremony for the championship team as well as a championship ring pop for all kids in attendance. Fan attendance will be capped at 50% capacity, an upgrade from last season’s 1,600 attendance limit.

With their hardware from last year’s title taken care of after tonight Milwaukee will look to repeat in just its third year of existence.
