Des Williams making Dacula proud beyond football

DACULA, Ga. (BVM) — One of the most desirable traits of sports is the fact that it engraves into the athletes real life skills outside of their field of play: determination, perseverance and hard work amongst many others. That’s exactly what the National Football Foundation (NFF) was recently acknowledging, awarding former football players for their accomplishments off the field.

Dacula resident and former Dacula High School football standout Des Williams was awarded the Post Graduate Achievement Award by the NFF at its University of Georgia banquet.

Since his days as a football player, Williams has gone on to become a successful businessman right in his hometown. He is the general manager of 4Evergreen Landscaping as well as 4EverBluePools, both based in Gwinnett County. This doesn’t come as a surprise as he founded and sold two landscaping companies while he was in college.

His days as an athlete certainly played a factor into his successful career as a landscaping tycoon. He was once a Gwinnett Daily Post Defensive Player of the Year for Dacula High, moving on to be the starting fullback with the Georgia Bulldogs from 2003 to 2006. He had coaches and mentors at the highest level of the sport to help him realize his potential.

Another former University of Georgia football player and current ESPN personality David Pollack was the main honoree at the event. The University of Georgia chapter of the NFF is one of its largest nationwide.
