In 10 total games for the Lafayette High School Commodores, according to MaxPreps, he had 119 total tackles (90 solo), seven sacks and two fumble recoveries. In his three years at Lafayette, Wilbourn has 235 total tackles and has also forced eight fumbles.
The Commodores finished with an overall record of 7-4 but lost in the playoffs due to a forfeit.
With this announcement, USM picks up one of its key needs: a run stopper.
This past season, the Golden Eagles gave up an average of 32.3 points and 180.9 yards on the ground. With Wilbourn arriving at MM Robert Stadium in a year, he’ll be looking to make an immediate impact on the defensive side of the ball for USM.
