Forest Lake set to play Andover in the sectional finals

ANOKA, Minn. (BVM) — The Section 7AAAA baseball championship is set, with Forest Lake once again going up against Andover.

The two teams had already played each other in the sectional tournament in the winner’s bracket championship on Saturday in a nailbiter. In that game, Forest Lake took the first shot, scoring three runs in the top of the first, but Andover quickly responded with two runs of their own in the first and then tied it all up at 3-3 with one run in the bottom of the second. The score would then stay tied until Andover broke the stalemate with a game winning run in the bottom of the ninth.

The Huskies would then move on to the sectional final while the Rangers would have to play Centennial on Monday for a chance at a rematch. After the tough loss to Andover Forest Lake took care of business on Monday, beating Centennial 14-4.

Now the Rangers will have their at a rematch but will have to beat the Huskies twice to win sectionals and get a ticket to the state tournament.

Forest Lake entered the tournament as a three-seed having gone 9-9 in the Suburban East Conference while Andover coming off their first ever Northwest Suburban Conference title entered as the No. 1-seed.
