Joshua Truchon runs incredible 3,200 meter race

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (BVM) — On May 22, Joshua Truchon added yet another accolade to his impressive running career and senior year.

The Nathan Hale runner crossed the finish line of the 3,200 meter race with a time of eight  minutes, 44.36 seconds. It was more than 15 seconds faster than the second-place finisher and believed to be a state record.

Truchon’s time is the fastest 3,200 meter time for a Wisconsin high school athlete on Wisconsin soil. The only time that has ever been run faster by a Wisconsin high school runner was done by Chris Solinsky, but that was at a meet in California, making Truchon’s time the fastest to happen in Wisconsin.

With state less than a month away, Truchon is looking to improve upon his time and break the WIAA state meet record of 8:57.70 set by Drew Bosley. He will also be going for another state championship after winning the WIAA boys cross country state meet in the fall.

In May, Truchon was also named the Gatorade Wisconsin Boys Cross Country Player of the Year and will be continuing his running career at the University of Wisconsin next year.
