All Saints’ Czyzewski completes one of best baseball seasons ever seen in Michigan

BAY CITY, Mich. (BVM) — Alex Czyzewski’s 2021 baseball season isn’t just labeled as special. Rather, it will be remembered as the best, as the Bay City All Saints’ star put up the greatest hitting season ever in Michigan high school history.

Czyzewski finished the season with a staggering .716 batting average, breaking the previous mark of .688 held by former Kingsley star, Dan Taylor. The mark still needs to pass the MHSAA’s verification process to become official, but it appears Czyzewski will have his name at the top of the record books sooner than later.

Through 28 games this season, Czyzewski recorded only 21 outs and struck out just four times. Overall he went 53 for 74 at the plate, walking 25 times, scoring 48 runs and stealing 33 bases. While the senior’s main position is shortstop, he is also dominant on the mound.

As the All Saints’ ace pitcher, Czyzewski posted a 7-1 record with 105 strikeouts on the season. Overall he helped the Cougars to a 22-8 record and No. 8 state ranking in the season’s final poll. Perhaps the only blemish of the season for Czyzewski was his team not going further in the postseason, as the Cougars lost to Saginaw Michigan Lutheran Seminary in the District 4 title game.

It isn’t the first time the local baseball star has made waves either. During his youth, Czyzewski was part of the 2016 Essexville Hampton Little League state championship team. The baseball star has also competed with a couple travel teams in the Mid-Michigan Lumbermen and Saginaw Bay Riverdawgs.

Throughout his high school tenure at All Saints, Czyzewski was also a star on the basketball court. Scoring 800 points in his career, he capped his time on the hardwood exceptionally this winter, averaging over 18 points and six rebounds per game.

Over the summer, Czyzewski will play for the Saginaw Means. From there, he will look to earn a spot on the Delta College baseball roster next season. Although his future may still be undecided, Czyzewski has solidified his spot as one of the top high school players to ever come out of Bay County.
