Wyatt Newpower signs with Detroit Red Wings
DETROIT (BVM) — The Detroit Red Wings announced via Twitter that they had signed White Bear Lake High School alum Wyatt Newpower to a two-year entry-level contract.

Newpower has been playing with the Cleveland Monsters in the AHL this year. In 24 games with the Monsters the 23 year-old scored 3 goals and had 7 assists for 10 total points for the American Hockey League team.
In high school, Newpower was a four–year varsity athlete for White Bear Lake. The 6-foot-3 defenseman had 18 and 54 assists for the Bears during his high school career. He also played well enough to get the attention of the University of Connecticut, which is where he played college hockey.
As a Husky, Newpower played in 114 games with 11 goals and 36 assists. As a senior, he won the 2020 Hockey East ’47 Best Defensive Defenseman Award and was named a Hockey East Second Team All-Star.
