Richmond Hill Wildcats gets new coach

RICHMOND HILL, Ga, (BVM) — The Richmond Hill high school softball team is saying goodbye to its coach and welcoming a new one as longtime Wildcat coach Angie Hummeldorf is stepping away from the team for personal reasons.

Hummeldorf has led Richmond Hill to the level of perennial playoff contenders over her eight seasons, only missing the playoffs once. The Wildcats during that time have taken second place in the Class 6A state tournament and won three region championships.

This past season, Richmond Hill went 8-16, losing in the second round of the playoffs. The Wildcats will have eight players returning when they begin the season Aug. 6 and Chris Jenkins will be the one leading from the dugout.

Jenkins has been the head softball coach for Jasper County High School for the last 18 years as well as the head baseball coach for 14 years and an assistant football coach for four years.
