Martin County atop the fishing food chain

MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (BVM) —  From the Great Lakes of the Midwest to the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, fishing is enjoyed across the country by wranglers trying to reel in the big one. But according to FishingBooker, Martin County, Fla., is the No. 1 area nationwide in the “Top 7 U.S. Summer Fishing Destinations for 2021.”

FishingBooker is an online marketplace and blog for booking yacht charters for recreational fishing, and they also named Stuart one of the “Best Winter Fishing Destinations in 2021.” All of this love for the waters of Martin County comes with good reason. The bio-diverse ecosystems that the different bodies of water offer are home to more than 800 species of fish.

When you throw a line in the water, you’re bound to catch something new on almost every cast. Snook, redfish, speckled trout, permit, flounder, sheepshead, black drum, bonefish, tarpon, snapper, grouper, amberjack and king mackerel — to name a few, are all the types of fish that inhabit these local waters.

Then of course, the perfect year-round weather plays a big role on how the fish bite and how comfortable the fishermen are. In Martin County, the sun is abundant and the weather is temperate, with the coldest months being early in the new year – January, February and March, but still primarily remaining in the 60s and 70s.

With so many great reasons to fish in Martin County, this area will probably continue to get public recognition perennially as fishermen come in search of the best spots.
