Clearview boys track and field team has rich history
MULLICA HILL, N.J. — The Clearview boys track and field team has a rich history. It was formed in the 1960s and has turned out some pretty amazing runners. Clearview alumni, Peanut Gaines, made the Olympic trials and was a national champion in the 1960s. Another former competitor at Clearview, Bill Dolan, won a state championship in 2012.
The Clearview boys track team welcomed a brand new coaching staff this year lead by Jack Bauer and came very close to breaking a school record for the 4 x 800m (only a couple of seconds off)! According to Coach Bauer, “the boys displayed a positive attitude and strong work ethic, and since they did not have much of a season last year, teammates motivated each other to perform at their highest levels.”
This year, Anas Bensaud was the top performer for Clearview. Bensaud was the fastest on the team and was named the Best Cross-Country Runner in New Jersey. Bensaud battled COVID during the year, but he came back strong and confident. He competed in the 800m, 100m, and the mile. Bensaud will continue his career at Stony Brook University in the fall of 2021.
