GREENWICH, Conn. (BVM) — The 2021 National High School Track and Field Championships, hosted by the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation (NASF), ran from June 30 and through July 3. There were several Greenwich High School athletes who qualified and competed at the national meet, which took place at the University of Oregon.

From the girls team, senior Mari Noble ran in the two-mile and was given All-American status after coming in fourth overall. She ran 10:41.01 as her new personal record to finish out her high school career.

On the boys side, Andrew O’Donnell sprinted into the No. 11 spot for the 400-meter dash. He clocked 48.41 which is .1 seconds behind his PR. O’Donnell was also a part of the 4X400-meter relay race alongside Gianluca Bianchi, Harrison Goldenberg and Zachary Jelinek. The Greenwich team finished in thirteenth place with 3:28.71 on the clock. In the 1600 sprint medley, however, the boys finished at No. 12 with 3:38.56 on the clock.

O’Donnell had a long weekend of competition at nationals. He is expected to return for his senior year during the 2021-22 season and all eyes will be on him as he tries to qualify for nationals once again.
