Top 10 single-game rushing performances in Texas high school football history
PLANO, Texas (BVM) — Some of the greatest single-game rushing performances that have taken place in high school football history have happened in the state of Texas. The best came from Matt Gadek in 2017. Here are the state’s top 10 rushing performances of all time.
1. Matt Gadek
One of the greatest performances in Texas high school history. McKinney running back Gadek rushed for 599 yards against Plano East High School in 2017. Gadek now plays football at the University of Northern Colorado.
2. Daryl Ellis
Former Somerville running back Ellis held the Texas high school record for 19 years, setting the record in 1998. He ran for 587 yards against Thrall High School.
3. Daimarqua Foster
Along with Gadek’s performance in 2017, Foster also had an impressive performance that year. He rushed for 580 yards when Wichita Falls Hirschi took on Decatur. Foster now plays for the TCU Horned Frogs.
4. Tyrone Swoopes
In 2011, Swoopes rushed for 560 yards when Whitewright High School took on Tom Bean High School. Swoopes ended up at the University of Texas and is currently playing professionally with the Washington Football Team.
5. Deion Williams
Williams ran for 547 yards for Morton Ranch High School in Katy, Texas, during a game against Taylor High School in 2012.
6. Emmanuel Abdallah
Two years ago, Abdallah ran for 545 yards against Argyle Liberty Christian High School.
7. Justin Twine
In 2011, Twine ran for 534 total yards against West Sabine High School. Twine committed to play baseball for TCU in 2014 and currently plays for Miami Marlins affiliate, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.
8. Cedric Battle
Battle rushed for 531 yards against Burkburnett in 2014. Battle played for two seasons for the University of Central Arkansas.
9. Tyson Thompson
Before Ellis held the record, Thompson held the record with 525 rushing yards. Thompson set the record against L.D. Bell High School. Thompson would go on to play three seasons for the Dallas Cowboys.
10. Jordan Barnes
Barnes rushed for 524 yards in 2011 in a game against Farmersville High School. Barnes would go on to play for Oklahoma Baptist University.
